Mara and the Bad Wolf
A gender-magical fairy tale
Written by Ké Kampeas-Rittenhouse
Illustrated by Kamila Wojciechowicz-Krauze
On Mara the fox's eleventh birthday, a rebellious teenage wolf takes Mara to a mysterious island where getting lost is as easy as falling into a patch of wild mushrooms. Mara soon finds herself alone and confused, with no idea how to get back home.
Will any of the cheeky local animals help Mara find her way? Will she make it through the impossible Cave of Many Doors? And could the island be trying to tell Mara something important… about herself? Sometimes, following your own path is trickier than it seems.
Join Mara on a magical journey of self-discovery in this beautifully illustrated modern fairy tale for all curious souls aged seven and up.
Topics explored: gender diversity, gender fluidity, parental divorce, anger, self-confidence, self-trust
Gender Glossary: includes a short glossary with easy-to-understand definitions for younger readers

Customer review:
"BANG. FUCKING. ON. Listen. I know everyone can relate to oracle cards and readings, but omg Ké, this was so lovely and affirming, and the call to adventure theme is correct regarding recent events. You hit on everything 100%. I've been called a trickster by two other ppl in the last little bit. The story of Sun, Moon, Star for the second card was great and yeah it fits—of course "the creator slept" was part of this card, it was a great reveal. Creativity has been off the charts in the last few months. Some of the sigils I've been kicking around for myself look like superhero symbols, of course you used those words. Enjoyment/curiosity/wonder (yep, literally in the last few weeks which has fueled all this creative energy). Thank you so much, I can't wait to get my cards in the mail." - R.
